Employees at SSE were surveyed about their experience with Toothfairy, offering valuable insights into their dental care journeys.

The results demonstrated a clear positive relationship between regular engagement with the service and increased confidence in managing oral health, stronger self-care behaviours, and a deeper awareness of individual dental needs.

These findings underscore the impact of accessible, digital dental support in empowering patients to take a more proactive and informed role in maintaining their oral health.

“Our workforce covers the whole of the UK, including some very remote locations, therefore the Toothfairy service has been very well received. This has allowed our people to receive advise without needing to visit their dentist. On the occasions our staff have required an in person dental appointment, Toothfairy has allowed them to attend a dental practise that they may have not otherwise been able to access.

With many dental practises closing or not taking on additional patients, Toothfairy is a fantastic benefit to allow our staff access to emergency dental treatment which has prevented lengthy time off work due to dental problems. “

Impact and access

The survey findings revealed a marked improvement in employees’ confidence and approach to managing their oral health. Notably, 81% of participants reported feeling more confident in their ability to manage dental disease after using Toothfairy. Furthermore, 85% indicated that the app would help them reduce their risk of developing dental disease, largely thanks to the direct, personalised guidance provided by dentists within the platform.

These insights highlight the impact of accessible, clinician-led digital support—not only in deepening users’ understanding of their oral health, but also in empowering them to adopt more proactive and effective preventive behaviours.
